Cancellation of Wistow Scarecrow Festival 2020
It is with a heavy heart that the Scarecrow Committee need to announce that this year’s festival will not be taking place.
This decision has not been taken lightly, and we have spent many hours trying to make it happen.
However the increased demands and red tape placed on our small committee are beyond the capacity we have.
We have become victims of our own success. Trying to run a professional event of this size, with the increasing health and safety requirements placed upon us, with a small group of volunteers, who all have jobs and families is unrealistic.
Our current insurers will now not cover us, as they feel we are too large an event, and other insurers are prohibitively expensive.
Whilst we understand that this will be a big disappointment to our village, we hope you will understand and support us in our decision.
We would like to thank everyone who has helped and supported us over the years.
We appreciate that this will be a huge loss for the village groups who benefit from the funds raised at the festival, and we are hoping to run smaller events throughout the year.
Watch this space!
I would like to thank you all for your help and dedication over the years, and I hope that some of you will join us for the possible future fundraising events.
